Hey Everyone,
Welcome to Nia Imani! Summer is officially upon us. With summer comes beach days, all day trips, laying out by the pool; that means excessive amounts of sun exposure. Excess sun exposure can correlate to sun damage and burns. In addition to wearing regular SPF 30 or higher after sun is a great way to protect and recover the skin from sun exposure. Today I'm sharing my do it yourself after sun body mist. It's simple, cost effective, and suited for all skin types.
Let's jump straight into the recipe!

Ingredients:
  1. 2 parts Natural Aloe Vera Gel
    1. Aloe Vera gel hydrates the skin, cools and calms irritation, and binds moisture to the skin. It also helps with inflammation and redness.
  2. 1 part Distilled Water
    1. Distilled Water is a transport agent and helps bind everything. Distilled water also lacks minerals, etc.  the lack of minerals means there are no agents inside of the water that can alter the effects of the other key ingredients.
  3. 1/2 part Vegetable Glycerin
    1. Vegetable Glycerin binds moisture to the skin and preserves the mixture.
  4. 1/2 part Vitamin E Oil
    1. Vitamin E heals the skin, protects it from environmental stressors, and preserves the mixture.
  5. 6-10 Drops of Clove Essential Oil
    1. Clove essential oil helps with inflammation and redness

Needed Materials:
  1. Funnel
  2. Empty, clean spray bottle
  3. Blender
  4. Cheese cloth
  5. Bowl

Recipes:
  1. Cut open the aloe plant and remove the clear gel. Place the gel inside the blender.
  2. Place the other ingredients (except the essential oils)  in the blender. Blend on low until the mixture is well blended.
  3. Place cheese cloth into a bowl and pour the mixture into the cheese cloth. Squeeze the mixture through the cheese cloth. This will ensure there is no clumps.
  4. Using the funnel pour the mixture into the spray bottle. Then put the essential oils directly into the spray bottle. Close the spray bottle and shake it until everything is well combined.

Things to know...
  • This mixture should only be stored for a month.
  • Can be stored in the fridge to prolong the freshness of the mixture.

That's all folks!

Hey Everyone!

Welcome back to Nia Imani! Today's post is going to be a DIY mask. I haven't done anything like this in quite a while. I wanted to share my favorite DIY mask with you guys.

This mask is soothing, anti-inflammatory, and refining; it's perfect for all skin types and conditions. The key ingredients are oatmeal and clove oil.  Oatmeal is gently exfoliating and calming. It also softens the skin. Clove is also anti-inflammatory and soothing.  The other ingredients are hydrating, balancing, and soothing; together they balance, hydrate, refine, restorative, and soften the skin. It's perfect!

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup fresh ground oats; You can grind your oats in a blender (soothing, exfoliating, and anti-inflammatory)
  • 3 tbsp. witch hazel (pH balancing and pore refining)
  • 1 tbsp. vitamin e oil (restorative and repairing)
  • 4 tbsp. aloe vera  gel (hydrating, moisture binding, and soothing)
  • 10-15 drops clove essential oil (anti-inflammatory and balancing)
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil (calming)

Recipe:
Mix all the ingredients into a bowl. Once the mixture is smooth apply it to the skin.

Final Results:
The skin would be supple, calm, refined, and well balanced. This mask can be used multiple times of week. With consistency someone could see long term results within 30 to 45 days.

DIY Apple cider vinegar and witch hazel toner

11/11/2016

Comments

What ingredients are in this astringent and what do they do for the skin?

  • Apple Cider Vinegar- which is amazing for killing bacteria, fading acne scars, restoring the skin to it's natural pH, and removing impurities.
  • Witch Hazel- reduces acne, reduces oil, shrinks the appearance of pores, shrinks the appearance of blood vessels, heals open lesions on the skin's surface, soothes, and refreshes.

How do you use this astringent?

First clean your face. Then apply it to a cotton pad or a cotton ball and apply it to your skin. Avoid sensitive areas or open lesions.

How do you store this astringent?

You may store this toner in your refrigerator or whatever you store your other skin care products. If stored in the fridge it will be more refreshing. It can be stored for quite some time.

What is the recipe for this astringent?

  • 1/2 cup pure Witch Hazel
  • 1/3 Distilled water; Distilled water has no minerals or microbial, therefore it is healthier for the skin.
  • 1/4 cup raw organic apple cider vinegar.

Tips?

  1. If you find this mixture to be too harsh for your skin you may dilute it with more distilled water.
  2. Best results will be seen if used everyday at least twice a day.

What can people except after using this product?

If used everyday at least twice a day people may see a reduction in acne and acne scars.

That's all folks!
